Our Services

>> Independent Living Aids Assessments

We have a number of specially trained staff who are able to offer Basic Independent Living Aids Assessments. If you are looking for equipment to support you with some of your daily living needs and to make life easier within your home, you are able to make an appointment at the centre and come and "test drive" some of our equipment before you decide to buy. Our staff will be on hand to demonstrate a number of basic independent living aids and to provide information on the types of equipment available and the places who supply them. Please note that we do not sell equipment at People Matter IW or endorse any particular companies or organisations.

Click here to find out more information or to find details on how to make an appointment appointment at our centre.

>> Team Around the Person (TAP)

Team Around the Person (or TAP) is a new way of working with adults with support needs. It involves listening to you to find out what support you need to stay living your life as you choose. TAP is voluntary – you can choose to be involved.

Click here to find out more information on the Team Around the Person service.

People Matter IW offer a variety of training opportunities for people using our services as well as professionals. Our training is delivered both in-house as well as in partnership with high quality specialist training providers.

>> Training

People Matter IW has helped to develop a number of local user led support groups. Each group aims to enable participants to share goals and concerns whilst having a mechanism by which they are able to drive issues forward to strategic levels fostering change.

>> "Your Say" Project

The purpose of the project is, through training and support, to enable self - advocates and carers to participate in relevant discussions, meetings and consultations on any issue related to Health and Wellbeing

>> Independent Supporters Service

The Independent Supporter Programme is a new government funded initiative to support Parent/Carers, children and young people who are going through the Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process. The programme is FRE and offers independent and impartial information and support.

Are you the parent/carer of a child who currently has a statement of special Education Needs? Is your child currently being assessed for an Education, Health and Care Plan? Are you a young person (up to 25 years) who currently has a Learning Disability Assessment  or are looking to request an Education, Health and Care Plan?

If so, the Independent Supporter (IS) Programme could be for you! Click here to find out more about the IS Programme.

>> AIM Sensory Equipment and Resource Library

The library has lots of items that can help people who have an Autistic Spectrum disorder, such as weighted blankets and clothing, peanut balls, ear defenders, body socks and a range of books.

We will talk to you about what might be helpful and we can also give information about other services. We do not sell any products, however we can give information about where to buy them. The volunteers and staff are not trained OT’s or physiotherapists.

Click here to find out more details and how to make an appointment to visit the library.

We make every effort to provide up to date and accurate information relating to external services and products. However, we rely entirely on organisations, businesses and companies to supply us with up to date and current information about their services on a timely and regular basis.

If you discover that any such information is not accurate, please notify People Matter IW at the Independent Living Centre on 01983 241494 and we will remove it.
